Why your donation is so important to us
The facts about the decline of our wildlife-rich grasslands are shocking. Over 98% of our hay meadows have disappeared since the Second World War: victims of intensive farming, development or neglect. One in five of our wild plants are threatened with extinction. With the rise in house building across the UK, controversial plans for Eco-towns, incentives to grow bio-fuels, and changes to farming practices - the threats to our wildlife-rich grasslands are even greater than before.
This is why The Grasslands Trust needs your support - to help us reverse this catastrophic decline and save what is now Britain's most threatened habitat. Whether it's helping a farmer restore an ancient hay meadow; making a wildflower-rich grassland site accessible to the public; lobbying to improve the laws which protect grasslands; or running a series of wildlife events to inspire people - there are so many ways your support can help us make a difference.
